Part 1 of our fabulous styled fashion shoot

Words cannot describe the wonderful experience we all had doing this fashion photo shoot. It was a pleasure to work with model Eliza Kohrman. Special thanks to Rodney Robledo of Robledo Studio, our fantastic hair and make up expert and Lacey Bennett, of the Elegant Relic, for her wardrobe and styling talents.

We started the day with donuts, coffee and a studio full of people. The craziness of the photo shoot was an all day affair. We took our beautiful model to some of our favorite locations…Big Star’s very own studio included. We love the edgy, rock-n-roll vibe of the photographs below. Eliza totally knew how to rock the glam look, feathers, sequins and fierce faux-hawk alike. When we handed her the microphone, she knew exactly what to do. These are just a few favorites from a fantastic day of shooting. Stay tuned for Part Deux, which features even more amazing photos!

Pat & Lynn – Engaged

Lynn and Pat are such a fashion forward couple! They wanted something a little more couture and styled than the norm. So we headed up above our studio, turned up the Bob Marley and started shooting. We love the feel of this shoot. It really captures their passion and love for one another. We loved that they changed into several different outfits and switched up their style a bit. Thanks Lynn and Pat! We can’t wait for your wedding! We know it will be fabulous! We had a blast!

Notes:

-Seafoam green, orange sherbet, mint, peony pink…pastels are not just for Easter! Offset the soft tones of pastels with rich hues like navy and burgundy or bright colors like turquoise and mango.

-Pair collared tanks with a flowy cardigan or a denim jacket!

-Oxford shoes come in a variety of colors and prints. Don’t be afraid to play around with shoes. They are an excellent way to add an extra pop to your photographs!

Victoria Ashton - Katie,
Colors are always so hard to mix and match…how do I know what looks good together and what to stay away from? I grew up in a world where everything matches and it’s so hard to deviate! Any tips?

Big Star Studios - Victoria,

Colors are indeed very tricky. It’s all subjective to skin tone, hair and eye color combinations, personal style and even the season! If you’re interested, I would love to set up a time to discuss some colors, as well as other styling techniques that best suit you. You can email me and anyone else on the Big Star team at info@bigstarphotography.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

Manic Monday!

We love music! It’s one of the things that keeps us going throughout the day. Without it, we probably wouldn’t get anything done at all. It helps us get pumped and motivated, especially on Mondays. We often take turns switching the Pandora stations. Garry usually wants it on Sade or Nickelback and Emily usually wants Lana Del Ray or Mumford and Sons. So there is an ongoing battle here at the studio. But for the most part we love all music, as long as it’s not country or sad piano music.

So we decided to start doing our “Song of the Week” kind of like Starbucks does. Only bad thing is we don’t offer a free download with ours. If you like it, you have to head on over to iTunes and buy it.

One song lately that’s been in our heads is The Gentleman Mashup by Mumford and Sons and Arctic Monkeys. This song has a special place in our hearts because it’s the song featured on our behind the scenes video. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we do!

Hope everyone has an awesome Monday!!
